Chemical engineering is one of the pillar industries
in Shangyu and accounts for an important part in the city¡¯s
industrial output. Up to now, here are all together over 300
enterprises specialized in chemical engineering, covering
a wide range of business, including production of dyestuff,
pigment, medical intermediates, printing additives and so
on. Up to now, the chemical enterprises have set up stable
cooperative relations with 380 universities and scientific
research institutes throughout the country. All these forged
Shangyu one of the centers that is integrated with chemical
research, production, sale and information.
As a base of chemical industry, Hangzhou Bay Fine Chemical
Zone, which is in North Shangyu, was established in1998. 1.5
billion yuan RMB has been invested in infrastructures and
more than 100 projects from USA, Europe, Japan, Korea and
domestic investors as well as 20 high-tech projects are set
up in the zone and thus it has become one of the largest fine
chemical zones of the best prospect.
The main products include medical intermediates, hydrogenation
catalyst, reactive dyestuff, organic pigment, auxiliaries,
and so on. During the first ten months this in 2004, the value
of exported chemical products surpass 100 million US$, accounting
for 25% of the city¡¯s total exportation.
