Shangyu Economic Development Zone
|
Shangyu Economic Development Zone (SEDZ) was set up in October of 1992 and was graded as a provincial level economic development zone in November 1993. The planned area is 40 square kilometers out of which 13 square kilometers finished construction. The present infrastructure in the zone can meet the needs of various investment projects. Now more than 350 industrial enterprises have settled in the zone. The total investment exceeded 10 billion yuan RMB. Among them are 150 foreign invested companies from 12 overseas countries and areas introducing foreign capital of US$ 265 million. As an important part of urban area SEDZ has developed 2 Sqkm living quarter with a population of 50,000.
Shangyu Economic Development Zone , though separated by Cao'e River from the downtown of Shangyu, is connected with it by eight bridges. Located in the hub of five large neighboring cities, including Suzhou , Shanghai , Hangzhou , Ningbo and Wenzhou , it's 62km from Ningb, 70km from Hangzhou , 220km from Shanghai and Suzhou , and 250km from Wenzhou . Hangzhou Bay Bridge built in 2004 starts from the crossing of Shangyu-Sanmen Expressway and Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, and ends at the joint of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway and Zhapu-Jiaxing-Suzhou Expressway. Once it's completed, this 67-km-long bridge will shorten the distance between Shangyu and Shanghai by 90km . |
